Trouble Pilgrims new album 'Blood, Glass & Gasoline' out now on FIFA Records
Dublin rock outfit Trouble Pilgrims present their new album ‘Blood Glass & Gasoline’, the bands highly anticipated second album. With the 9-track long-player, to be released via Forever In Financial Arrears Records (FIFA Records) on Oct 31st.
The album comes on the trail of two singles, the latest of which is ‘The Old Days’, punchy rhythms, energy, catchy melodies, and insightful lyrics combine to deliver a slice of Rock n Roll perfection. The earlier single and the album's opening track ‘21st Century Girl’, investigates the changing and modern attitude of total respect for women by men and the acceptance of interchangeable roles within any relationship and provides the perfect lead into the album.
This album is not the future of rock n roll. It’s far more urgent than that. It’s the sound of now.
And now is not history’s brightest moment. Now is full of darkness and sadness and loss for so many. Anxiety, heartache, bewilderment, and despair.
But if this album is the sound of lockdown in Dublin’s, it’s not the sound of the clampdown.
Far from it. This is an album of resistance, of hope in the darkness. Of beating the clock, squeezing out sparks in the dusty cellars of our despair. Lighting candles with the pennies we’d saved, or stolen, or dreamt of.
This is not the sound of the crowd. It’s certainly not the sound of the spirit level on immaculately, generically identikit city streets. This is the sound of the cracks in the concrete, the splinter in the grandfather clock. The flower in the dustbin.
The torn page, full of wisdom, trampled underfoot in the rain. The sound of not walking the line. The dance of the dead. But that’s no surprise.The songs of the Trouble Pilgrims have always been haunted. Haunted by ghosts and spirits and specters. Phantoms, shadows and dead souls.
Sometimes their music captures the sound of lonesome streets.
Sometimes it transmits the speed and energy of signs and chevrons on the tarmac roads.
Gone in the blink of an eye in a trial of taillights and neon.
Roads laid by the people with the far away accents, far away dreams too.
This is the sound of ghosts on the highway, ghost riders, ghost towns.
It is the sound of basements, speeding trains, lonely places, dances, pinball machines.
Fights, nights, righteous anarchy.
Whoever said that rock ‘n’ roll was a young man’s game had clearly never heard a girl group. And he’d never heard an album like this. This is an album of dust, rust, lust, and distrust.
Of decay, shadows, souls in the era of low attention spans and soap box sets.
It’s an album that demands to be listened to from start to finish.
A piece of work. It’s a long player. Look it up.
It was crafted by five of the most unrelenting spirits of Dublin’s underground music scene.
The uncompromising Pilgrims. The last gang on Dub-a-linn town. The boys who never really left the town. And the town never left them. It’s also, importantly, a slab of Do-It-Yourself in a world of bubblegum dreams (and disasters). This is the sound of sleeves rolled up. Sweat, tears, anxiety, ambition. And camaraderie, solidarity, openness, ambition.
It is the sound of not compromising.

Οι Trouble Pilgrims της ροκ σκηνής του Δουβλίνου παρουσιάζουν το νέο τους άλμπουμ «Blood Glass & Gasoline». Με το long-player 9 κομματιών, που θα κυκλοφορήσει μέσω της Forever In Financial Arears Records (FIFA Records) στις 31 Οκτωβρίου.
Το άλμπουμ ακολουθεί τα ίχνη δύο σινγκλ, το τελευταίο από τα οποία είναι το «The Old Days», οι δυνατοί ρυθμοί, η ενέργεια, οι πιασάρικες μελωδίες και οι διορατικοί στίχοι συνδυάζονται για να προσφέρουν ένα κομμάτι της τελειότητας του Rock n Roll. Το προηγούμενο σινγκλ και το εναρκτήριο κομμάτι του άλμπουμ «21st Century Girl», διερευνά την μεταβαλλόμενη και μοντέρνα στάση του απόλυτου σεβασμού για τις γυναίκες από τους άνδρες και την αποδοχή εναλλάξιμων ρόλων σε κάθε σχέση και παρέχει το τέλειο προβάδισμα στο άλμπουμ.
Αυτό το άλμπουμ δεν είναι το μέλλον του rock n roll. Είναι πολύ πιο επείγον από αυτό. Είναι ο ήχος του τώρα.
Και τώρα δεν είναι η πιο φωτεινή στιγμή της ιστορίας. Τώρα είναι γεμάτο σκοτάδι και θλίψη και απώλεια για τόσους πολλούς. Άγχος, στενοχώρια, σύγχυση και απόγνωση.
Αλλά αν αυτό το άλμπουμ είναι ο ήχος του lockdown στο Δουβλίνο, δεν είναι ο ήχος της καταστολής.
Μακριά από αυτό. Αυτό είναι ένα άλμπουμ αντίστασης, ελπίδας στο σκοτάδι. Να χτυπάς το ρολόι, να σβήνεις σπίθες στα σκονισμένα κελάρια της απελπισίας μας. Ανάβουμε κεριά με τις πένες που είχαμε σώσει, ή κλέψει ή που είχαμε ονειρευτεί.
Αυτός δεν είναι ο ήχος του πλήθους. Σίγουρα δεν είναι ο ήχος σε άψογα, γενικά πανομοιότυπους δρόμους της πόλης. Αυτός είναι ο ήχος από τις ρωγμές στο μπετόν, το θραύσμα στο ρολόι του παππού. Το λουλούδι στον κάδο σκουπιδιών.
Η σκισμένη σελίδα, γεμάτη σοφία, ποδοπατήθηκε στη βροχή. Ο ήχος του να μην περπατάς στη γραμμή. Ο χορός των νεκρών. Αλλά αυτό δεν αποτελεί έκπληξη.
Τα τραγούδια των Προσκυνητών του Προβλήματος ήταν πάντα στοιχειωμένα. Στοιχειωμένο από φαντάσματα και πνεύματα και φαντάσματα. Φαντάσματα, σκιές και νεκρές ψυχές.
Μερικές φορές η μουσική τους αιχμαλωτίζει τον ήχο των μοναχικών δρόμων.
Μερικές φορές μεταδίδει την ταχύτητα και την ενέργεια των πινακίδων και των σιρίτι στους ασφαλτοστρωμένους δρόμους.
Έφυγε εν ριπή οφθαλμού σε μια δοκιμή πίσω φώτων και νέον.
Δρόμοι που χάραξαν οι άνθρωποι με τις μακρινές προφορές, μακρινά όνειρα επίσης.
Αυτός είναι ο ήχος των φαντασμάτων στον αυτοκινητόδρομο, των αναβατών φαντασμάτων, των πόλεων φαντάσματα.
Είναι ο ήχος από υπόγεια, τρένα με ταχύτητα, μοναχικά μέρη, χορούς, φλίπερ.
Αγώνες, νύχτες, δίκαιη αναρχία.
Όποιος έλεγε ότι το rock 'n' roll ήταν παιχνίδι νεαρών ανδρών, προφανώς δεν είχε ακούσει ποτέ ομάδα κοριτσιών. Και δεν είχε ακούσει ποτέ τέτοιο άλμπουμ. Αυτό είναι ένα άλμπουμ σκόνης, σκουριάς, λαγνείας και δυσπιστίας.
Της φθοράς, των σκιών, των ψυχών στην εποχή της χαμηλής προσοχής και των σετ κουτιών σαπουνιού.
Είναι ένα άλμπουμ που απαιτεί να ακούγεται από την αρχή μέχρι το τέλος.
Ένα κομμάτι δουλειάς. Είναι ένας μακροχρόνιος παίκτης. Ψάξτο.
Δημιουργήθηκε από πέντε από τα πιο αδυσώπητα πνεύματα της underground μουσικής σκηνής του Δουβλίνου.
Οι ασυμβίβαστοι Προσκυνητές. Η τελευταία συμμορία στην πόλη Dub-a-linn. Τα αγόρια που δεν έφυγαν ποτέ από την πόλη. Και η πόλη δεν τους άφησε ποτέ. Είναι επίσης, σημαντικό, μια πλάκα Do-It-Yourself σε έναν κόσμο με όνειρα τσιχλόφουσκας (και καταστροφές). Αυτός είναι ο ήχος από τα μανίκια σηκωμένα. Ιδρώτας, δάκρυα, άγχος, φιλοδοξία. Και συντροφικότητα, αλληλεγγύη, διαφάνεια, φιλοδοξία.
Είναι ο ήχος του μη συμβιβασμού.
